107/365 – Chris Tamisiea Runs, Swims, Bikes and Loves!

I’ve written plenty about my brother Sean (Tammer the Hammer) and Patrick (psychopath) and Jimmy, but I haven’t written much about my brother Chris.  Megan and her bridesmaids voted him the nicest guy they’ve met.  Chris is a class act.  Where Patrick (or myself for that matter) will find an opportunity to fart, Chris will find an opportunity to excuse himself.  Where Tammer the Hammer finds an opportunity to leave out dirty clothes, Chris finds an opportunity to fold.  Where I find an opportunity to yell at people who piss me off when I’m riding my bike . . . well, Chris does the same now.

Behind that charming facade, that grizzly beard and that unassuming Irish cap is a man read to explode . . . with love. But explode all the same!

If I were to describe Chris, it would be a survivor.  He hasn’t had the easiest time on this planet – in fact, I’d say he’s been a urinal for the world’s shitty ideas.  It’s like the bad people in the world have “Chris Chips” in their heads with automatic targeting systems.  Whenever a bad, evil idea crosses their mind, the cross hairs focus right on Chris.  But he still lives on, loves on and does his best to better himself.

If you were to go back in time and see Chris 10 years ago, you’d find a fat ass the size of Chris Farley.  Well, not Farley, but my step dad would have made that jab.  Today, Chris may be one of the most fit guys I know. Instead of taken any anger or sadness or anxiety and directing it inward, or worse, at others, he has found peace in exercise.  He runs and bikes and is healthier and happier than he’s ever been.

And now, he’s giving back.  On June 23rd Chris will do a triathlon.  A what?  A fucking triathlon.  Let me make this clear.  He’ll be swimming 1.5K, biking 30 miles and running a 5k . . . On the same day!  I’ve been running and biking for over a decade and never has a triathlon crossed my mind.  Chris has been running and biking for over a year and he feels ready.  That’s just it.  Chris is tough.  Mentally solid.  Any hurt or B.S. that has found it’s way to his doorstep has prepared him for this.  Physically – sure, he’s ready.  But it’s the mental preparedness that makes him ready.

Wait. Are all those women in the triathlon? Now I get it. Chris wants to "help" people with cancer. Chicks, man. Chicks.

That’s why I’m asking that you support him, oh dear readers.  (All 15 of you – A RECORD!).  Chris isn’t just running to prove something to himself.  Nope.  That would be too easy.  Chris is running for to find a cure for blood cancers.  He has had friends suffer form these diseases and I think he felt, “Hey, if I’m going to do this, I might as well do it for a real reason.”  That;s the thing about people who have lived through some major shit 0 they’re much more prone to give to others than people who have endured nothing.  Here’s what’s on his FUNDRAISER PAGE.

I can't even look at this without throwing up. A god damn triathlon.

Teams are made up of individuals. Without them, there is no team.

Welcome to my Team In Training home page.

I have a mission-to help find cures and more effective treatments for blood cancers. To accomplish that mission, I’m participating in the Lake to Lake triathlon in Loveland, Colorado (please see attached link of event below). I will participate in this endurance event as a member of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team In Training. Like the other members of TNT, I will be raising funds to help find cures and better treatments for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma. I’m improving the quality of my life by participating and with your support, I can help improve the quality of life for patients and their families as well.

Please make a donation in support of my efforts with Team In Training and help advance the research for cures.

Thank you for your support,

Christopher Tamisiea

So, if you are so inclined, visit his FUNDRAISER PAGE or visit the Loveland Triathlon Webpage and give a donation or send him some words of encouragement.  Let’s see Chris kick some ass!
