120/365 – Soup and Drew Petersen (or Nuts)

I think Megan and I have become more and more domesticated.  I mean, we are getting older and, quite possibly wiser?  Okay, maybe not, but if you were to look at our lives 5 years ago and our lives now, there’s a definite change in our desires and wants.  Last night, instead of going ice skating – which had been in the works for a week – we went grocery shopping.  Yes, at eight PM we went grocery shopping.  WE NEEDED FOOD!  LAY OFF US, WE WERE STARVING!

Anywho – we were right there with the rest of the old farts buying butternut squash and rolling by the Andesronville gay community buying grocery store wine.

Gay men and wine - so much more exciting than married couples and micro-brews.

As I said yesterday, the whole idea of grocery store shopping is not completely in our vernacular.  We usually buy piecemeal at the bodega up the street; a banana here, a gallon of milk there — maybe sone chips.  I don’t know – sometimes we just go hog crazy and buy peanut butter.  Ooohhhhhh!  I went there, gurl!

However, to actually shell out 200 bucks worth of groceries is amazing.  So, here I am – Sunday night, cooking this amazing soup (Colorful Butternut Squash Soup).  Chopping vegetables.  Slow cooking the chicken.  Watching videos on my iPad on how to chop vegetables.  Watching videos on my iPad on how to slow cook chicken.  Watching videos on my iPad on how to chop vegetables.  Watching videos on my iPad on food exploding.  Come on – that chicken takes an hour to boil, son!

So, while Megan went to out with her friends to watch the Lifetime movie about Drew Peterson — yes, I did write Lifetime movie about Drew Peterson.  No, I’m not lying – it stars Rob Lowe as Drew Peterson.

“I’m untouchable, bitch.”  I just said that to the soup I’m making . . . yeah, vegetables, meet my chef’s blade that Megan and I got for our wedding.

As I was saying, we’ve gotten a bit domestic – me making soup, Megan watching Lifetime, choosing not to go out, barely handling our liquor — it’s not a bad thing.  It’s just something I’m aware of.  Who cares, though, because this soup is delicious!  I gotta go watch Murder She Wrote.  Bye.
